AEW Video Game Release Date Could Be Next Year
Although pro wrestling fans have enjoyed many great video games in the past, this has been less common in recent years. Expectations are high.AEWThe 3D wrestling game’s been announced. It’s said that it draws inspiration from classics such as WWF No MercyFor the Nintendo 64. Fans are eager to see more of the Nintendo 64, so it’s not surprising.AEWThe most important thing is a release date and window for the game. Although AEW has not made any official announcements, it is confident that it is looking at 2022.
AEW EVP and the company’s current World Champion Kenny Omega were recently interviewed on the Wrestling Observer Radio show. Omega gave a quick update on the development of the game, which he is helping to oversee. Omega was surprisingly prompt in stating that AEW hopes to release the game by next year. He does admit that they can’t commit to a date but is open to discussing it.
Omega also spoke about some of the AEW’s ongoing work on the game’s development. He described how to work on character models, like the previously revealed Darby Allin, who is progressing but isn’t 100% complete yet. It is slowly becoming a reality, and individual character move-sets are being implemented. Omega said that he had seen “inspiring” results.
AEW is a young company in the grand scheme. It was founded in 2019 and rushed to start working on multiple AEW games, which it has put millions of dollars into making happen. AEW is still learning as it develops its games. The 2022 release seems aggressive, but it is not impossible considering that veteran wrestler game developer YUKE is behind the project. Talking about the game’s release date too early is rarely a good idea.
AEW has released two games so far. The first, AEW casino: Double or Nothing, is not a new game but rather a reskin of an existing app. The second, AEW Elite GM, was launched recently. It allows fans to book and manage fantasy wrestling shows. AEW was determined to release its AEW manager games at a rapid pace and delivered. Although some critics have been leveled at the game’s polish, it is still a great game and a huge part of its release’s excitement.
While AEW seems eager to share more information about its upcoming 3D wrestle game, it also seems comfortable admitting that things don’t always go according to plan. The priority is making a great new wrestling game, and AEW wants to give YUKE’s the time and resources to make that happen.
